What's New In Social Media

It’s crucial for property management professionals to find innovative ways to connect with prospects and generate business, and social media is a powerful tool to help. This series was created to keep readers up-to-date on the latest trends and updates in social media. By taking advantage of social media for multifamily, your property management company is better equipped to engage your online audiences.

Here’s what’s new in social media:

Instagram’s new design and logo

Instagram has more than 400 million users and about 80 million images are shared everyday.  Last Wednesday, the app released a new design and app icon. The first big change is the new icon. Everyone has been use to the Polaroid icon, and I had trouble finding Instagram on my iPhone to upload a picture after the change. The reviews for the new updates have been mixed, and has created some frustration with devoted instagrammers.

The app also has a new interface update, which has a minimalist black and white color scheme. While the look has changed, all the buttons and notification positions are the same.

It will take some time to get used to these changes, and it will be interesting to see what else the social network has in store in the coming months. What do you think about the recent Instagram updates?

Periscope to release update with stream-saving, search features, and drone support

Periscopers are in for a treat in these upcoming weeks. Periscope revealed a few upcoming features that are in development, which include saving streams, a search feature, and drone capabilities. Purchased by Twitter back in March 2015, Periscope reached over 200 million broadcasts less than two months ago.

The search capability will give users the power to sift through specific topics of interest and to replay relevant streams. The latest update also details the ability to permanently save videos and DJI drone support for iPhone users, a big win for fans of different perspectives. In the coming weeks, Twitter will be releasing this update to iOs and Android users.
